Baker Dies from Mistaken Identify

Los Angeles: On February 25, 2005, at about 4:00 a.m., 28-year-old Ruben Santiago was shot to death in his car as he arrived for work, in the 3000 block of Cochran Avenue, where he had been a baker for over a decade. Detectives believe Santiago was an innocent victim of gang violence and mistaken identity.

While detectives believe the crime was gang related, no suspect information was available.

Mr. Santiago died at the scene.
