Protecting the Protectors

What:
News conference to ask public's help in identifying persons involved in an unprovoked shooting at a police officer last week, February 9, 2006 in the San Fernando Valley.

In addition, Chief Bratton and other police leaders will address the spate of shootings against police officers this year, which is occurring across the county and state.

  • Police Officer Bobbie Norman, officer shot at last week
  • Police Chief Randy Adams, Glendale PD and President of LA County Police Chief's Association
  • Assistant Chief Ellen Conley, CHP

Why:
Since January 1, 2006, suspects have shot at police officers in the City of Los Angeles five times.  Arrests have been made in three of the five incidents.  A number of similar incidents have occurred across the county and the state.
