Los Angeles: A fifteen-year Los Angeles Police Department officer plead no contest to a felony count of grand theft, stemming from workmen's compensation claims going back several years.

Police Officer Craig Williams, 44, was sentenced to 18 months probation, received a $2,000 fine, and agreed to $5,000 in restitution to the City of Los Angeles. His plea agreement also included his resignation from the LAPD and an agreement to withdraw all pending lawsuits against the city regarding his worker’s compensation claims.

Williams was arrested October 26, 2005, by investigators assigned to LAPD's Professional Standards Bureau. He had been relieved from duty pending the investigation.

Williams was last assigned to Hollenbeck Police Station in Boyle Heights. He is a resident of Los Angeles.
