Man Killed in Drive-By Shooting

Los Angeles: A 32-year-old Boyle Heights man was shot and killed early Monday morning when a gunman in a car open fired on him.

Armando Herrera was standing in front of his apartment complex in the 1700 block of Pomeroy Avenue when he was shot. After hearing the gunshots, a witness came out of his apartment and found Herrera lying on the sidewalk. The witness drove Herrera to the Los Angeles County USC Medical Center, where he died a short time later.

Detectives believe the shooting is gang related.

The suspects' car was described as a newer model charcoal gray Chevy Impala or Malibu.

Anyone with information is asked to call Hollenbeck Area Homicide Detectives Scott Smith or Victor Marin at 323-526-3678. On weekends or during off-hours, call the toll free 24-hour number at 1-877-LAWFULL (1-877-529-3855).
