Murder Suspect Arrested in Chicago NR14057wr

Los Angeles: Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) Criminal Gang/Homicide Division detectives reported the man responsible for the murder of 45-year-old Wanda Threadgill of Los Angeles, has been arrested in Illinois.

On Tuesday, December 17, 2013, around 11:20 a.m., 77th Area Patrol officers responded to a radio call of an "Ambulance Death Investigation" at 9500 South Western Avenue. Officers noticed the body was in a state of decomposition.  Criminal Gang Homicide Division Detectives along with Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office responded to the scene.  It was later determined that Threadgill was a victim of a homicide, and had passed away from multiple stab wounds to her torso.  

The investigation revealed Threadgill and Weatherspoon were acquaintances and were involved in a dispute which resulted in her murder.

On Tuesday, February, 11, 2014, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office filed one count of Murder, (187 P.C.), against 27-year-old Laevin Meikel Weatherspoon.

On Wednesday, February 12, 2014, around 11:00 p.m., Weatherspoon was arrested in Chicago, Illinois with the assistance of Cook County Sheriff’s Department and a FBI Fugitive Task Force in Chicago.
