WHO: Los Angeles Police Department, Sergeant Jose Covarrubias, Hollenbeck Division Los Angeles Police Department, Corporal Kevin Ardon, Cadet Program

WHY: The Los Angeles Police Department would like announce a new Cadet Academy class and would like to acknowledgment the heroic actions of a cadet that resulted in saving a man’s life. Our City’s youth face unique challenges and profound obstacles resulting from life’s many challenges and lack of exposure to positive role models. The Los Angeles Police Department seeks to engage and provide opportunities to our youth by giving them access to programs such as:

• Police Cadet Program (13-20 years), • Junior Cadet Program (9-12 years), • Jeopardy Program (at-risk of joining gangs, 8-17) • Juvenile Impact Program (boot-camp style for delinquent youth, 9-17), • Police Activities League (6-17, educational, athletic, and recreational activities).
