Sylmar Man Killed in Traffic Collision Remains Unidentified NR13136rf

April 25, 2013
UPDATE

The traffic collision victim below has now been identified as 52-year-old Larry Reichert. His area of residence is unknown.

Los Angeles:
Los Angeles Police Department Valley Traffic Division (VTD) detectives are hoping for public assistance to identify a man who was fatally struck by a vehicle as he crossed the street.

Around 4:45 a.m. yesterday, a man on Hubbard Street in Sylmar, just west of Dronfield Avenue, was walking north to cross the street midblock when he was struck by a silver 2012 Chevrolet Cruze.  The driver of the car, identified as 40-year-old Sylmar resident Juan Garcia, immediately stopped to assist the pedestrian as required by law.

The pedestrian, identified only as a white male in his early- to mid-40s, died at the scene of impact. Unfortunately, the man had no identification, and detectives are still trying to determine his identity.

Anyone with information regarding this incident, especially details of the decedent’s identification, is asked to contact VTD Detective II Krajchir at 818-644-8034. During non-business hours or on weekends, calls should be directed to 1-877-LAPD-24-7 ((877)-527-3247). Anyone wishing to remain anonymous should call Crime Stoppers at (800)-222-8744. Tipsters may also contact Crime Stoppers by texting to phone number 274637 (C-R-I-M-E-S on most keypads) with a cell phone. All text messages should begin with the letters “LAPD”. Tipsters may also go to LAPDOnline.org, click on “webtips” and follow the prompts.
