LAPD Capture Attempt Murder Suspect with Assault Rifle

Los Angeles: On May 16, 2003, an unidentified male Hispanic was standing with two companions near a residence in the Lake View Terrace Area of Los Angeles. A vehicle passed by and an unidentified suspect inside the vehicle fired several rounds from an AK-47 assault rifle, grazing the male Hispanic in the head. The victim survived. At the time of the shooting, the suspect was described as a male Hispanic gang member.
Conducting a follow-up investigation, the Foothill Area Gang Impact Team Detectives identified the shooting suspect. Obtaining a search warrant, the detectives sought out the suspect at his Los Angeles residence. Due to the high caliber weapon involved in the prior shooting, Special Weapons and Tactics Unit (SWAT), served the warrant. The suspect, identified as Alfredo Guiterrez, was immediately arrested for shooting at the three individuals. Searching suspect Gutierrez’ residence, the detectives recovered an AK-47 assault rifle, numerous rounds of ammunition and narcotics.
Alfredo Guiterrez was booked on Attempt Murder and his bail has been set at $3,000,000.
