Foothill Detectives Investigate Murder

Foothill: On Saturday, August 18, 2001, at approximately 1:13 A.M., Foothill Area officers responded to a radio call of shots fired investigation at Pacifica Hospital, 9449 San Fernando Road, Sun Valley.

Upon arrival, officers were met by the emergency room personnel who stated that a male victim had been transported by his friends to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the upper torso. Emergency treatment was administered, however the victim died as the result of his injury.

The investigation revealed the victim had been at a private party at a house located in the 10900 block of Fellows Avenue, Pacoima. When gunshots were heard coming from a few houses down the block, the party began to break up. As people were leaving the party, a group of friends found the victim laying in the parkway adjacent to the street. The victim had received a gunshot wound to the upper torso. The victim’s friends placed the victim in their private car and transported him to Pacifica Hospital where he died from his injury. The victim was subsequently identified as Jimmy Montoya, age 21, a resident of Pacoima.
