"Motel Shooting Results in Homicide"

Sylmar – On Friday, March 10, 2000, 2:54 p.m., Foothill Area patrol officers responded to an "ADW Ambulance enroute, shots fired at the motel", radio call in the 12700 block of Encinitas Avenue in Sylmar. The broadcast indicated numerous armed suspects fled the scene in a black Ford Escort. Upon arrival, the officers located a 28 year old male Hispanic victim of a shooting. The shooting victim was transported to a local hospital and is in stable condition.

The investigation revealed a vehicle containing a second shooting victim was driven to a local hospital by possible suspects. That 22 year old male Hispanic suspect expired at the hospital. Foothill officers responded to both hospitals and took two possible suspects into custody.

The identity of the shooting victim is being withheld pending notification of relatives. The motive for the shooting has not been determined.
