2004 C-PAB Summit Celebrates 11 Years of Partnership

For the 11th time, Community-Police Advisory Board (C-PAB) members from throughout Los Angeles came together to celebrate the annual C-PAB Summit. The event was held on April 17, 2004, at the historic Park Plaza Hotel in Rampart Area. Nearly 300 C-PAB members joined Department personnel for breakfast, networking and educational sessions aligned with the event theme--“Homeland Security and You.”

Master of Ceremonies, Fox News veteran journalist Tony Valdez, kicked off the event opening ceremonies that included Mayor James Hahn, Chief William Bratton and Sheriff Lee Baca. These guests and others welcomed the attendees and shared their insights. Mr. John Miller, the Commanding Officer, Critical Incident Management Bureau, shared multimedia presentation on Homeland Security and the positive impact C-PAB members can have in their local communities.

The focus of the event then shifted to the educational sessions. They included a look at the Alvarado Corridor Project in and around MacArthur Park by Captain Charlie Beck (Rampart Area), a presentation by Deputy Chief Mike Hillmann on the ways in which the Department is supporting Homeland Security efforts, and a look at the Neighbor to Neighbor Community Mobilization Project by Northeast Area personnel. The event was commemorated by a group photograph.

If you have questions about the C-PAB Summit or you would like to be part of future summits, please contact the Community Policing Unit at 213-473-4530.
