Two Robbery Suspects Caught on Surveillance Video

March 6, 2003

Los Angeles: On February 14, 2003, at approximately 1:45 p.m., two male Black suspects entered the Best Western Hotel located at 1402 West Pacific Coast Highway in Wilmington. The suspects posed as customers and asked about room rates. At one point, one of the suspects brandished an unknown type handgun as the other suspect demanded money from a lone clerk at the front counter.
In fear for her life, the clerk complied and handed over approximately $500.00 in bills and coins. Both suspects then fled the location through the back door and were seen by a witness running into an apartment complex, located just east of the hotel.
The suspects were described as male Blacks, 30-35 years of age, each weighing approximately 300 pounds.
The robbery was caught on the hotel’s surveillance video and will be made available for the media. Members of the media can pick up the video from Media Relations Section, 150 North Los Angeles Street, Los Angeles, Room 626.
