Gang-Related Shooting Leaves One Dead

Los Angeles: On Friday, February 1, 2002, at approximately 1:50 p.m., Harbor Area patrol officers responded to a shooting in progress in the 25300 block of Frampton Avenue. When the officers arrived, they discovered a male victim who had been shot. Los Angeles City Fire Department Paramedics responded to the location and pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

The preliminary investigation indicates that two suspects, described as male Hispanics, drove up to the victim and shot at him several times. The suspects then fled from the scene in a dark vehicle.

The victim is described as a male Hispanic, sixteen years of age. His identity is being withheld pending notification of his next of kin.

The motive appears to be gang-related. The suspects have not been arrested.

Harbor Area Operations Support Division Homicide Detectives are conducting the investigation. Anyone with information is urged to contact Detectives D. Garcia or V. Delgado, Harbor Homicide Unit, at 310-548-7621 during business hours. On weekends and during off-hours, call the 24-hour toll free number at the Detective Information Desk at 1-877-LAWFULL.
