Wednesday, August 11, 1999

On Tuesday evening, August 10, 1999 at approximately 5:15 p.m., a shooting occurred in front of 904 West "L" Street, in the city of Wilmington. The victim had parked his vehicle on the street in front of the location. He exited his vehicle at which time unknown suspect(s) fired multiple shots, striking the victim in the upper torso. The suspect(s) fled in an unknown direction.

The victim, identified as Jose Luis Salinas, Jr., a 21 year old male Hispanic, was transported by Paramedics to Harbor UCLA Medical Center where death was pronounced at 1753 hours.

The motive for the shooting is believed to be gang related. The murder weapon and suspect(s) is outstanding.
