SUV Backing in Driveway Kills Toddler

Los Angeles: An 18-month-old toddler, Isaac Huerta was hit by his father’s SUV when he backed out of their driveway in the 1600 block of West 226th Street.

On July 31, 2007, at about 4:45 p.m., Detectives said that Roberto Huerta walked out of his home, got into his vehicle and slowly began to back out of the driveway. As he started backing, 18-month-old Isaac ran out of the house after him and into the path of the moving vehicle. Roberto was unaware that Isaac had followed him.

Isaac suffered major head trauma and was taken by his father to Harbor UCLA Hospital. As a result of the injuries sustained, he died shortly after his arrival at the hospital.
