Halloween has been celebrated on October 31st in the United States since the early 1800’s and is traditionally a family-oriented holiday when children get to dress up and enjoy candy and other treats. In order to assist the Los Angeles community in enjoying this fun-filled holiday as safely as possible, please! Children should never be allowed to go out alone on Halloween and you should never eat any treats until they have been examined. Make sure that all fruit should be cut and closely examined before eating. Advise your children that they should never enter strangers’ homes.

During the month of September 2008, Gang related violent crime remains low. Officers assigned to the gang unit have used the gang injunction along with parole and probation searches to keep the gang activity in check.
However, property related crimes have increased in September, with three reported stolen cars in and around County USC Medical Center alone. We also had eighteen reported thefts of property from parked cars in the Lincoln Heights community.
