Motorcyclist Involved in Fatal Traffic Collision

On Sunday, January 2, 2000, at approximately 2:15 p.m., a fatal traffic collision occurred on Sunset Boulevard and Brooktree Road.

The victim, a 20 year old male adult, was riding his motorcycle eastbound Sunset Boulevard near Brooktree Road, lost control on a curve, crossed over the double yellow lines onto the westbound lanes and collided into an Acura traveling westbound. The victim died at the scene from his injuries.

It appears, from the evidence and witnesses, that the motorcyclist was speeding.

The identity of the victim not released pending notification to next of kin. Preliminary investigation revealed no evidence of alcohol or drugs.

The driver, a female adult, of the Acura was transported to a local hospital but there was no apparent injury to her.

West Traffic Division Follow-up Detectives are continuing the investigation.
