Possible Kidnapping

Los Angeles: Hollywood Area detectives are asking for the public's help in locating a suspect who was seen putting a little girl in the truck of a car and driving away.

On December 6, 2007, at around 8:45 AM, a witness reported seeing a small child in the trunk of a vehicle and a male Hispanic or Filipino shutting the trunk lid. The incident occurred in the area of Rosewood Avenue and Harvard Boulevard. The suspect was last seen going westbound on Rosewood Avenue.

The child is believed to be a female due to the clothing description as being pink pants, and a white sweater with a pink design. The only other description is that the child had short dark hair. She is about 5-8 years of age.

The suspect was further described as having salt and pepper colored hair and being approximately 40 years of age, wearing a green coat and gray pants. His car was described as a gray newer model, 4-door sedan, and having a box shape trunk. The license plate has a combination of the following letters and numbers “VTTV0664”. The license plate has a white background, with dark letters and numbers, possibly a California plate.

This press release is being given to the news media from a position of caution at this time, as there is minimal information and there are no reported missing children that can be tied to this incident.

The Hollywood Detective Division is handling the investigation. Information regarding this possible crime can be directed to Detective J. Padilla, at 213-972-2927, and after hours contact the Hollywood Watch Commander at 213-972-2971. During off-hours or on weekends call the 24-hour toll free number at 1-877-LAWFULL (529-3855).
