Why:
On April 25, 2008, at around 10:20 p.m., the victim, 21-year-old Oscar Antonio Escobar was walking in the area of Melrose Avenue and Hobart Street. Mr. Escobar was walking home with food for his family when he was confronted by unknown suspects. After a brief confrontation the suspects fatally shot Mr. Escobar.
Escobar was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Council President Eric Garcetti, 13th District, and the Los Angeles City Council approved a $50,000 reward for the arrest and conviction of persons responsible for the murder.
