LAPD Power Lifting

The Los Angeles Police Department’s Power Lifting team raises the bar when it comes to competition.  Formed in 2004, the Power Lifting team consists of approximately 20 members, both men and women, who compete four times a year.  Competitions include the Western States Police and Fire Games, Arizona Police and Fire Games and the Nevada Police and Fire Games.

With competitions held throughout the year, it is important that team members stay in shape and train regularly.  As part of the power lifting competitions, participants perform a dead lift and a bench press.  The best of three lifts is the one that is judged.  Competitors can compete individually or as a team.  In the 2008 Nevada Police and Fire Games, the Power Lifting team took home 1st place honors. With an eye on 2009, the Power lifting team is set to compete for top honors once again.
