WHY:
On Friday, the Los Angeles Police Department will graduate 32 police officers. Each recruit has completed
912 hours of training over the course of 24 weeks. Among the graduating class is Recruit Officer Martin Beck, son of LAPD Chief Charlie Beck.
For reference, 27 males and 5 females are graduating. The ethnic breakdown of the class is as follows:
10 Caucasians, 14 Hispanics, 4 African Americans and 4 Asians.
It is anticipated that over 500 guests will attend the graduation ceremony. Chief Beck will conduct a formal inspection of the class along withrepresentatives from the Mayor’s office, the Board of Police Commissioners, LAPD command staff and other special guests.
