Captain III Patrick Findley has been with the Los Angeles Police Department since 1972, where he started his career as a civilian jailer, and then entered the Police Academy in 1976. Captain Findley was the commanding Officer of the Hollywood Community Police Station, Wilshire Community Police Station, until his promotion to Commanding Officer of Jail Division. He has worked a variety of assignments as a police officer such as Training Officer, Vice, Narcotics, and motorcycle patrol. As a supervisor, has he worked both Central and West Bureaus, Investigative Analysis Section, Backgrounds, Personnel Group, and the Ombuds Office. When assigned to the Hollywood and Wilshire Area, his command encompassed Patrol Operations, Detective Operations, Special Enforcement Unit, and Career Criminal Unit. As a member of the command staff in both Area, Captain Findley interacted with the community and the large movie/television/radio industry housed in the surrounding area. He oversaw the developing partnership with the private security community, which is a useful tool to assist all parties in sharing relevant crime information. As the Commanding Officer of Jail Division, Captain Findley is responsible for a command of 400 sworn and civilian personnel, which are assigned to three regional jails and seven divisional jails. Captain Findley holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management and has completed numerous other educational courses which include but are not limited to, West Point Leadership Program; Total Quality Management for Law Enforcement Executives; POST Management Program and Command Development Program; Supervisory Leadership Institute, Sacramento, California; mediation training from Collaborative Decisions Resources, Boulder, Colorado; the Supervisor as a Team Leader and Performance Evaluator, Ombudsman 101/202, and Cultural Diversity. Captain Findley is also an instructor for the United States Department of Justice, International Criminal Investigative Training Assistance Program, and travels worldwide teaching Democratic Policing in newly developing countries.

Captain Findley is a member of International Association of Chiefs of Police, California Peace Officers Association, Los Angeles Women’s Police Officer Association, California Association of Law Enforcement Background Investigators, and alumni of Pi Kappa, Lambda Alpha Epsilon.
