As Southern California was reeling from the strongest earthquake in recent memory, Officers Angeles and Izzo began rescuing trapped survivors in the now infamous Northridge Meadows Apartment Complex.

Their vehicular pursuit of assault-with-a-deadly-weapon (ADW) suspects quickly escalated into a gun battle. Though wounded, Officers Davenport and Salvodon were able to return fire and fend off their assailants.

Disregarding their own safety, Officers Broussard and Milecki responded to cries for help and entered an apartment building engulfed in flames to rescue residents.

On that tragic morning of January 17, 1994, Officers Kim and Lint initiated rescue measures and saved numerous lives from the fires and destruction resulting from the Northridge earthquake.

Caught in a gas explosion and himself injured, Detective Carr immediately began searching for survivors and organized the rescue.

Attempting to arrest two robbery suspects, Officers Alley and Watson were fired upon and returned fire, resulting in the arrest of both suspects.

Themselves involved in a traffic collision and injured, Officers Kolar and Petrusis rescued the drunken motorist who had caused the accident from his burning vehicle.

While enroute to the station with an arrestee, Officers Ballesteros and Mendoza were ambushed. The officers returned fire and though injured were still able to direct responding units.

Officers Caingcoy and Sandling rescued motorists from their vehicles that had become engulfed in flames after being involved in a traffic collision.
