JAIL DIVISION MISSION STATEMENT

Jail Division’s primary mission is to discharge its legal duties and responsibilities promptly and efficiently while ensuring that individuals are provided professional and dignified treatment.

Jail Division serves as an integral support element.  The Los Angeles Police Department is under no statutory obligation to provide or maintain its own jail system but does so because of the vital support and assistance it renders both to the community and to the various law enforcement agencies it services. The Commanding Officer of Jail Division is Captain III David A. Lindsay.

Jail Division consists of ten jails located throughout the City of Los Angeles. The three larger scale jails are Metro Jail section, 77th Regional Jail section, and Valley Jail Section, and the other seven small scale area jails include, Devonshire (TEMPORARILY CLOSED), Foothill (TEMPORARILY CLOSED), Harbor (WEEKEND BOOKINGS ONLY), Hollywood, Southwest (TEMPORARILY CLOSED), Wilshire (TEMPORARILY CLOSED), and Pacific.

To better assist the public in locating an individual who has been booked, the web address link to the Los Angeles County Sheriff Department, Inmate Information Center has been provided. Please click on the link http://app4.lasd.org/iic/ajis_search.cfm  and enter the name search criteria or you can obtain the phone number to speak with an operator.  Please note: inmate records and information is not available for bookings that occurred within the last 2 hours.
