The Executive Officer, under the command of the Chief of Police, exercises line command over the functions of Planning and Research Division. In addition, the commanding officer of Executive Officer acts as an advisor to the Director of Office of Support Services on operational issues of the Department. The Executive Officer also has the ancillary duty of coordinating the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) Conference that is set to take place in November 2004.
The Los Angeles Police Department and the Los Angeles County Sheriffs Department will co-host the event at the Los Angeles Convention Center. This conference represents a major event within the law enforcement community. Delegates will travel from throughout the United States, and the World to attend this dynamic conference. An estimated 15,000 to 20,000 law enforcement representatives will be on-hand to receive training, exchange information, and attend a series of lectures covering a broad spectrum of law enforcement issues. Commander Michael J. Bostic is the Executive Officer.
