Victim Confronted and Killed in 77th Area

Wednesday, January 6, 1999
On Tuesday, January 5, 1999, at approximately 9:40 p.m., victim Jose Angel Maldonado, a male Hispanic, DOB: 08/19/56, 42 years old was parked on the 7000 block of South Hoover Street, Los Angeles. Unknown suspect(s) confronted him and physically assaulted him. During the fight suspect(s) took out a gun and fired several rounds in the direction of Maldonado. Maldonado sustained multiple gunshot wounds. The suspect(s) was last seen fleeing Southbound in his vehicle. Maldonado was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment. Maldonado failed to respond to medical treatment and succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
The motive for this incident has not been established.
