Van Nuys Area Teenager Gets Shot

LOS ANGELES POLICE DEPARTMENT

Wednesday, January 20, 1999

On January 19, 1999 uniformed officers responded to an Assault with a Deadly Weapon (ADW)/ Shots Fired call at 14432 Valerio Street, in the city of Van Nuys.

Upon arrival, the officers contacted the victim, a 15 year-old minor who had been shot several times in the torso. The investigation has shown that the victim and another male were in the apartment complex when they were approached by a lone male suspect. Words were exchanged at which time the suspect removed an unknown type handgun and fired several times at the victim. The suspect then fled on foot out of the complex and in an unknown direction. The victim was transported to a local area hospital and was listed in stable condition.

The motive is unknown at this time and no suspect(s) are in custody.
