Victim Shot by Brother-in-Law

LOS ANGELES POLICE DEPARTMENT
PRESS RELEASE
Monday, January 3, 2000

On Saturday, January 1, 2000, at approximately 5:40 A.M., Devonshire Area patrol officers responded to a radio call of shots fired at 14700 block Roscoe Boulevard, in Panorama City.

Officers responded to the location and were met by the person calling who stated two people had been shot inside the location. Both victims were transported to the hospital for treatment of their injuries. One of the victims, identified as Silvia Escobar, died of her injuries at Northridge Hospital a short time later.

The responding officers, after interviewing witnesses arrested the suspect, Lucio Rodriguez, the brother-in-law of the victim, a short distance from the location.

The investigation is being handled by detectives, Devonshire Homicide Unit, at 818-756-8291.
