"Southeast Detectives Investigate Drive-By Shooting Homicide"

Los Angeles: On Friday, January 25, 2002 at approximately 5:45 p.m., a group of people were gathered in the front yard of an apartment building in the 200 block of West 88th Street. A vehicle, containing at least two suspects, drove eastbound by the apartment complex. Several shots rang out from the passenger side of the vehicle towards the group. Three victims were hit by the gunfire. The suspects' vehicle continued eastbound towards Main Street.

All three victims were males, ages ranging from 39 to 67 years old. Two of the victims were treated at an area hospital for their gunshot wounds and remain in stable condition. One of the victims failed to respond to emergency medical treatment and was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The victims’ names are being withheld pending notification to family members.

The motive for this crime is not known at this time. The suspects have not been arrested.
