Los Angeles - - At the above-mentioned date and time, Los Angeles Chief of Police William Bratton, along with other City and Department officials, will attend the City’s first Consent Decree Community Meeting of the new year.

On June 15, 2001, the Court approved the Federal Consent Decree. The Decree, in part, requires the Department to conduct community meetings in each of its 18 geographic Areas, annually, for the purpose of, among other things, providing the public with information on the various aspects of the Consent Decree and the various methods of filing a complaint against an officer. Not only will this meeting be the first of its kind for the year, but it is also the first one to be attended by Chief Bratton since he assumed command of the LAPD.

Chief Bratton will touch on his and Mayor Hahn’s commitment to full implementation of the Consent Decree. Consistent with Mayor James Hahn’s mandate to making Los Angeles the safest largest City in America, Chief Bratton will renew his commitment to working closely with the community to implement this mandate.
