Gunshots Fired from Vehicle Wounds Three, Kills One

Los Angeles: On Friday, January 17, 2003 at approximately 8:55 p.m., Los Angeles Police Department Wilshire Area Patrol Officers responded to an "ADW Ambulance Enroute, Shots Fired" radio call located in the 1900 block of south 3rd Avenue.

Upon arrival, the officers discovered that a shooting had occurred and four victims were hit by the gunfire.

One victim, 26 year-old Antwan Lamar Newton, was critically wounded and transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead at 11:28 p.m. Three other unidentified gunshot victims were transported to a local medical facility where they were expected to survive from their wounds.

The police investigation revealed that a vehicle driven by unidentified suspects was traveling southbound on 3rd Street, when unknown caliber gunfire erupted and hit all four victims.
