Two Arrested for Burglary; One Suspect Incurs a Canine Bite

"Two Arrested for Burglary; One Suspect Incurs a Canine Bite"

Los Angeles: On Monday, January 27, 2003 at 10:45 p.m., West Valley patrol officers responded to a radio call of burglary from motor vehicle suspects at Wyandotte Street and Garden Grove Avenue. When the officers arrived they observed two male Hispanics, 18 years of age, burglarizing a vehicle that had broken glass on the ground around it. Seeing the approaching officers, the suspects ran into a nearby neighborhood. A perimeter to contain the suspects was established. The officers also requested assistance from the air and canine units.

Canine units responded to the location and began a search of the 7300 block of Chimeneas Avenue. To the rear of the location on Chimeneas Avenue, the dog was alerted to several items, possibly belonging to the suspects. A further search of the backyard led officers to a small-detached garage. One of the suspects, identified as Anthony Perez, jumped out from behind a vehicle inside the garage and kicked the dog in the chest. The canine responded by biting the suspect who was subsequently taken into custody.

Canine units continued searching and located a second suspect, identified as Noe Corral, hiding next door in the rear yard of a nearby location on Chimeneas Avenue.

Perez was taken to Northridge Medical Center where he was treated for the dog bite. Perez was then transported to Los Angeles County USC Medical Center Jail Ward where he was booked for Penal Code Section 459-Burglary From Motor Vehicle. Corral was booked at Jail Division, Valley Jail Section, under Penal Code Section 459-Burglary From Motor Vehicle.

This press release was prepared by Public Information Officer Renee’ Montoya, Media Relations Section, 213-485-3586.
