Well Known Photographer Dies In Traffic Collision

Los Angles: On Friday, January 23, 2004, at about 12:00 p.m., Los Angeles Police Officers assigned to West Traffic Area officers responded to a fatal traffic collision that occurred on Marmont Lane just north of Sunset Boulevard.

Mr. Helmut Newton, a well know photographer, was exiting the parking lot of the Chateau Marmont Hotel located in Hollywood when he lost control of his 2004 Cadillac. Newton collided with a wall that resulted in major damage to his vehicle.

Los Angeles Fire Department Paramedics responded and transported Newton to Cedar Sinai Medical Center where he died of his injuries. This incident was a single vehicle collision and no other parties were involved.
