18 Year-Old Shot and Killed in South LA

Los Angeles: On Wednesday, January 26, 2005, at approximately 8:55 a.m., 77th Street Area patrol officers responded to a shooting call in the 7300 block of South 9th Avenue.

Upon arrival, the officers observed the victim, 18 year-old Daniel Lee Perez, a resident of Los Angeles, lying in the driveway. Perez had suffered multiple gunshot wounds to his upper body and was transported to a local hospital by a Los Angeles Fire Department rescue ambulance. Perez died a short time later from his injuries.

The investigation revealed the victim was standing in the driveway when a late 1980's brown compact vehicle drove up. An unknown suspect fired multiple rounds at Perez and fled the location.

The motive appears to be gang related. The suspect(s) and weapon remain outstanding.

Anyone with information is requested to contact 77th Street Homicide Detectives, at 213-485-1383. On weekends or during off-hours, call the toll-free, 24-hour number at the Detective Information Desk, 1-877-LAWFULL (1-877-529-3855).
