Harbor Area Officers Seriously Injured by Drunk Driver

Los Angeles:  On Sunday, January 29, 2006, at about 1:30 a.m., Harbor Area Officers Criselda Pedro and Jeffrey Rivera responded to a traffic collision involving several vehicles at the mid block of Pacific Avenue north of 1st Street.
The Officers were seated in their black and white police vehicle with their amber lights on.  The Officers were waiting for police tow to move a vehicle that was obstructing traffic, which was involved in a traffic collision.
The suspect, Hector Bustillos, 38 years old, was driving a 1992, Chevy, Silverado northbound Pacific Avenue when he rear ended the police vehicle causing it to spin and hit a curb.  The Chevy Silverado rolled over and hit a parked car.
The Los Angeles Fire Department transported both officers to a local hospital, which were both listed in serious but stable condition. 
Hector Bustillos was treated at the scene for minor injuries, and was then booked for Felony Driving under the Influence.
