Man shot and killed at bus stop in Boyle Heights

Los Angeles: Hollenbeck Homicide Detectives are investigating the shooting death of Chris Castellanos, 17 years of age.

On Tuesday, January 3, 2006, at 10:10 AM, Mr. Castellanos was waiting for a bus on the southwest corner of Whittier Boulevard and Boyle Avenue when two suspects approached and attempted to rob him. The victim resisted and one of the suspects removed a handgun from his waistband and shot Mr. Castellanos multiple times. The victim collapsed on the crosswalk and died as a result of his gunshot wounds. The two suspects fled.

Hollenbeck Patrol Officers immediately secured a perimeter. After a thorough search, one suspect was apprehended and taken into custody. The man arrested is Aymar Josua Torres, 22 years old.

The public's assistance is requested in providing any information on the identity of second suspect who is still outstanding. Please contact Hollenbeck Homicide Detectives J. Gutierrez or A.
