Two Food Trucks Robbed in Midtown Area NR11006cj

Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) Olympic Area detectives are asking for the public’s help in identifying two suspects whose images were caught on surveillance cameras robbing two food vending trucks and two pedestrians in the mid town area of Los Angeles.

On December 29, 2010, at around 10:30 p.m., LAPD Olympic Area patrol officers responded to a robbery call in the 3200 block of 8th Street.  When they arrived, they were met by the victims and conducted their investigation.

The detectives’ investigation revealed that two African American men robbed two pedestrians and a food vending truck in the 3200 block of 8th Street.  One of the suspects pointed a handgun at the victims and took their wallets while the other suspect entered the food truck and attempted to rob the employee inside, also using a handgun.  Afterward, the suspects ran away from the scene.

About 20 minutes later, the same suspects approached another food vending truck in the 4000 block of 3rd Street and robbed the truck employee using the handguns.  The two men ran from the scene on foot.

The first suspect is described as a 20 to 25-year-old African American.  He stands 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighs around 150 pounds.  He was wearing a dark hooded sweat shirt.

The second suspect is also described as a 20 to 25-year-old African American with long braided hair.  He also stands 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighs around 150 pounds.  He was wearing a dark T-shirt.

Anyone with information or who recognizes the suspects are urged to call LAPD’s Olympic Area Robbery detectives at 213-382-9460.  During non-business hours or on weekends, calls should be directed to 1-877-LAPD-24-7 (877-527-3247).  Anyone wishing to remain anonymous should call Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (800-222-8477). Tipsters may also contact Crimestoppers by texting to phone number 274637 (C-R-I-M-E-S on most keypads) with a cell phone.  All text messages should begin with the letters “LAPD.”  Tipsters may also go to LAPDOnline.org, click on "webtips" and follow the prompts.
