34-Year-Old Man Shot and Killed NR11031gb Los Angeles: Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) 77th Division, Criminal Gang Homicide detectives are asking for the public’s help in providing any information that will lead to the arrest of a suspect(s) responsible for the shooting of a 34-year-old man on January17, 2011 in South Los Angeles. At about 3:00 a.m., Edjardo Chavez was found shot to death in the street, in front of a residence in the 140 block of West 73rd Street. A citizen saw Chavez lying on the ground and called for assistance. Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics rushed Chavez to a local hospital where he died. There is no suspect description and the weapon remains outstanding. Detectives are trying to understand what prompted the shooting. Anyone with information on this crime is urged to call 77th Division Criminal Gang/Homicide Detectives R. Guzman or E. Crosson at 213-485-1383.
