4th of July Stray Bullet Kills 9 Year Old Victim

PRESS RELEASE
Tuesday, July 6, 1999

On Sunday, July 4,1999 at approximately 9:00 P.M., Brian Perez was playing with family members in the front yard of 146 East 75 Th Street, Los Angeles. Someone in the area where Victim Perez lived fired a firearm into the sky. The bullet struck Perez in the head. Perez was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment. Victim Perez succumbed to a gunshot wound to the head on July 5, 1999 at 5:10 P. M.

The investigation is being conducted by LAPD South Bureau Homicide Detectives Dan Myers and Steve Burciaga. Anyone with information regarding someone shooting a firearm in the area of 146 East 75th Street, Los Angeles on July 4,1999 at approximately 9:00 P.M., is encouraged to contact Detectives Myers and Burciaga at 213-847-1310.
