Shao Shao Celebrates His 5th Birthday with Northeast Area Police Officers

Shao Shao is a four year old boy from China who was born with a complex congenital heart disease. He was brought over to the United States in 1998 after his father put out a desperate plea for medical help via the internet. Shao Shao has undergone numerous complex heart surgeries at UCLA Medical Center to correct the defect. The latest surgery was successfully performed on June 30,1999. Shao Shao was unofficially adopted by the Northeast Area Community Relations officers who have followed his progress throughout his ordeal and optimism runs high for his full recovery.

On July 29,1999, at approximately 9:30 a.m., Shao Shao and his family will be coming to the Northeast Station located at 3353 San Fernando Road in the City of Los Angeles, in order to celebrate his 5th birthday with Northeast police officers. Shao Shao will also be going to the LAPD Mounted Unit for a tour of the facilities. Birthday cake and refreshments will be served to Shao Shao and his family upon returning to the station.

Community relations officers who will accompany Shao Shao will be Community Relations Office Supervisor Sergeant Dana Walker, Officer Rita Vallejo and Officer Marjan Mobasser.
