Victim Brutally Raped by Unknown Suspect

Monday, July 26, 1999

On Sunday, July 18, 1999, at approximately 8:45 PM, a violent rape occurred in an apartment building in the area of 3rd and Alvarado Street. The victim opened the front door to a man asking for a family member. The man asked the victim for a glass of water and used this opportunity to force his way into the apartment. Once inside he brutally beat and raped the victim. The victim was home alone at the time and the man was not known to any family member. A composite drawing has been prepared of this suspect. The man is described as a Spanish speaking male Hispanic, 5'4", 140 lbs, black hair and brown eyes and is approximately 25 years of age.

Anybody with information regarding this crime is asked to contact Rampart Division Sex Detectives at 213-207-2031.

In addition to asking the community's help in solving this crime, we remind the public to never open their doors to any strangers under any circumstances. Always ask for identification if you are expecting a repairman or any other service technician.
