Serious Traffic Collision

LOS ANGELES POLICE DEPARTMENT
PRESS RELEASE
Tuesday, July 27, 1999

On Monday 07/26/99 at 11:55 PM a traffic collision occurred near the corner of Manchester Avenue and Wall Street in the Southeast Area of Los Angeles in which a driver of an 1981 Olds Cutlass lost control of his vehicle and ran off the roadway and collided with a large tree. There were two occupants of the vehicle including the driver and a passenger. The driver, 26 years old Michael Halper, resident of Inglewood, was incapacitated due to injuries sustained in the collision.

According to a witness, two unidentified individuals pulled the unconscious driver and a passenger from the car which at some point caught fire. The driver was transported to Martin Luther King Hospital by Los Angeles City Paramedics for treatments of the injuries sustained in the collision.

Detectives from Los Angeles Police Department, South Traffic Division, are investigating this incident and would like to speak to the unidentified individuals who rescued the driver and his passenger.
