Thursday, July 6, 2000

"Child Dies in Traffic Accident"

North Hollywood - On Wednesday, July 5, 2000, at approximately 9:09 P.M., 30 year old Lynn Julian, a resident of North Hollywood, was driving a 1984 Toyota Supra southbound on Vineland Avenue, south of Magnolia Boulevard. Julian veered to the right for unknown reasons, colliding with the rear of an empty tractor trailer rig that was legally parked. Riding with Julian was her seven-year-old son, Tyler Chernoff. Both Julian and her son appeared to have been wearing their seatbelt at the time of the collision. Tyler was transported to Saint Joseph's hospital and was subsequently pronounced dead at 9:38 P.M. of massive head injuries. Julian was transported to Holy Cross Hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Further investigation revealed that Julian was in possession of illicit drugs, and driving under the influence of drugs at the time of the collision. Julian was subsequently transported to and booked at the USC County General Hospital Jail Ward for 187 PC, Second Degree Murder.
