Monday, July 31, 2000



"Shooting Death in Rampart Area"

Los Angeles - On Sunday, July 30, 2000, at approximately 3:55 a.m., Rampart Area patrol officers responded to a radio call of "shots fired" on the 200 block of South Westlake Avenue. Upon their arrival to the location, the officers discovered a 25 year-old male Hispanic who had been shot. Paramedics arrived to the location and pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

A motive for this crime has not been established, but it is believed to be narcotics and/or gang-related. The suspect and weapon are outstanding. The victim's identity is being withheld pending notification of his next of kin.
