"20-Year-Old Shot to Death in 77th Street Area"

 

Los Angeles: On Monday, July 16, 2001 at approximately 9:50 P.M., victims Jhana Wilson, a female Black, 20-years-old, and Trent Ross, a male, Black 31-years-old, were standing in front of 5423 2nd Avenue. A vehicle described only as a small dark compact, pulled up with two male Black suspects. For no apparent reason, one of the suspects began shooting at the victims with an unknown type handgun. The suspects then fled southbound 2nd Avenue.

Both of the victims sustained gunshot wounds to their upper torsos. The Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics transported both victims to a local hospital. Jhana Wilson failed to respond to medical treatment and died from her injuries. Trent Ross remains in critical condition.

The motive for this incident is unknown.

The suspect and the weapons remain outstanding.
