Detectives Investigate Homicide

Los Angeles: On July 5, 2002, at approximately 1:45 P.M., uniformed officers from 77th Street Community Police Station responded to an "Ambulance Shots Fired" call at the 7200 block of South Cimarron Street.

Upon arrival officers located a male victim of a shooting, laying on the sidewalk. Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded and declared the victim dead from gunshot wounds.

The investigation revealed an unknown male suspect shot the victim before fleeing. The motive for the shooting is still under investigation. The suspect has not been identified and no arrests have been made.

The victim has been identified as Martez Shonray Briggs, 21 years of age, a resident of Los Angeles.

77th Street Homicide Detectives are conducting the investigation. Any one with information that may assist in this investigation is urged to contact homicide detectives at 213 485-1385.
