Los Angeles: On July 24, 2002 at approximately 7:00 p.m., a 1997 Honda Civic, driven by 27 year-old Robert Vicelich, was turning left onto Manchester Avenue from Sepulveda Westway, when it was struck on the driver’s side by a bus owned by the City of Santa Monica.

The Honda Civic, with three occupants inside, was pushed across Manchester Avenue, where it collided with another car, waiting in the left turn lane. The sole occupant in the stationary car was not injured. Vicelich and a female passenger, 27 year-old Elizabeth Ewing, were transported to Daniel Freeman Inglewood Hospital where they were pronounced dead. The unidentified third occupant in the car, driven by Vicelich, was transported to UCLA Medical Center where she was listed in critical condition.

The 52 year-old driver of the bus sustained minor injuries and did not require medical treatment. None of the approximately 20 passengers on the bus complained of injuries.
