Drive by Shooting Claims the Life of 19-Year Old Winnetka Man

Los Angeles: On July 26, 2002 at approximately 12:05 a.m., Los Angeles Police Department West Valley uniformed officers responded to a shooting call in the 19700 block of Lull Street in Winnetka. Upon their arrival they discovered that a male Asian had been shot while walking into his residence on the 19700 block of Lull Street.

The victim, later identified as 19 year-old Steven Nguyen, had just arrived home and was walking into his residence. As the victim approached the front door, a possible red or maroon Toyota Previa van pulled up and multiple shots were fired. The victim sustained several gunshot wounds to his upper torso. Los Angeles City Fire Department Paramedics responded and pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

The vehicle and the suspect(s) are outstanding.

The motive appears to be gang related.
