Two Killed in Traffic Collision

 

Los Angeles: On Thursday, July 24, 2003, at 2:15 a.m., a traffic collision occurred in the 1200 block of Hyperion Avenue. Milad Zarandi, a 21 year-old resident of Los Angeles, was driving his 2003 Ford Mustang northbound on Hyperion Avenue at a high rate of speed. Zarandi lost control of his vehicle sending it in a counter clockwise spin. The vehicle collided with a lamp standard and a power pole. Zarandi’s right rear passenger, 28 year-old Christina Vasquez of Los Angeles, was pronounced dead at the scene. The front passenger, a 29 year-old male visiting from England, was also pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has not been revealed pending notification of the family. The left rear passenger, Valerie Vasquez, a 19 year-old resident of Los Angeles, was transported to a local hospital where she was treated for lacerations and abrasions and then released.

Zarandi was booked at Jail Division for Vehicular Manslaughter with Gross Negligence. Drugs or alcohol were not involved.
