Detectives Seek Clues In Homicide Investigation

"Detectives Seek Clues In Homicide Investigation"

Los Angeles: Rampart Homicide Detectives are investigating the death of a female Puerto Rican, 45-50 years of age.

On July 3, 2004 at approximately 1:50 p.m., Rampart Patrol Officers were summoned to 725 South Alvarado Street regarding a possible shooting victim. Upon arrival to the victim’s apartment officers noted the door was ajar and officers were able to observe the victim on the floor, suffering from a gunshot wound. Los Angeles City Fire Department Paramedics responded to the location and pronounced the victim dead.

The investigation revealed a second shooting victim was possibly in the apartment when the shooting occurred. The second victim was able to exit the apartment and seek help from in front of the building. He was transported to USC Medical Center where he was admitted into surgery. He remains in critical condition.

The motive for the shooting is unknown. The weapon used has not been recovered and no information is available on the suspect. The names of both victims will not be released until family members have been notified.

The Los Angeles Police Department is seeking assistance from the public, and asking anyone with information to contact Detectives Pere or Merlo at 213-207-2060 during normal business hours. A 24 hour toll free number is available at 1-877-529-3855.
