"Detectives Seek Clues In Homicide Investigation"
Los Angeles: Rampart Homicide Detectives are investigating the
death of a female Puerto Rican, 45-50 years of age.
On July 3, 2004 at approximately 1:50 p.m., Rampart Patrol Officers were
summoned to 725 South Alvarado Street regarding a possible shooting victim.
Upon arrival to the victim’s apartment officers noted the door was ajar and
officers were able to observe the victim on the floor, suffering from a
gunshot wound. Los Angeles City Fire Department Paramedics responded to the
location and pronounced the victim dead.
The investigation revealed a second shooting victim was possibly in the
apartment when the shooting occurred. The second victim was able to exit the
apartment and seek help from in front of the building. He was transported to
USC Medical Center where he was admitted into surgery. He remains in
critical condition.
The motive for the shooting is unknown. The weapon used has not been
recovered and no information is available on the suspect. The names of both
victims will not be released until family members have been notified.
